Bridging the gap between the prehistoric periods in Africa
The workshop will discuss the terminology used in different parts of Africa to describe mainly the Early Stone Age, the Middle Stone Age and the Later Stone Age. The participants will also have the opportunity to examine the archaeological finds from some Moroccan sites.
The workshop will consist of scientists from leading institutions in their own countries and their participation in the workshop will provide expertise and will allow new networks to be built between both researchers and the new generation of early career scientists.
L’Institut National des Sciences de l’Archéologie et du Patrimoine (INSAP, Rabat) est un établissement supérieur ne relevant pas de l’université qui assure la formation, la recherche scientifique, technologique et l’expertise liés au Patrimoine culturel. Il supervise 23 pro¬grammes de fouilles archéologiques (toutes époques confondues) couvrant l’ensemble du territoire national. L’INSAP effectue également des études d’impact et des fouilles archéologiques de sauvetage liées aux projets d’aménagement.
Plusieurs conventions de coopération lient l’INSAP à des Instituts de recherches et des universités nationaux et internationaux. Pour son rayonnement national et international, il édite une revue et deux collections. Ses enseignants chercheurs collaborent également à des revues et ouvrages internationaux.
